Google Drive gets dedicated spam folder enhancing online safety.
Google has constantly developed machine learning to improve security standards. Many functions and features are created to secure users from cyber attacks. For instance, Gmail blocks 99.9% of spam, malware, and dangerous links before reaching users’ inbox. It can keep over a billion people safe everyday. Currently, Google brings the ability; spam protection to Google Drive as well.
The concept is similar to how the spam folder works in Gmail. It will classify dangerous or abusive content, and automatically filter files that Drive strongly suspects to be unwanted to the spam folder. It is improving the security in Google Drive. Moreover, users are able to review and separate their files and decide if they want to mark it as a dedicated spam folder or not.

Users can mark files as spam, by selecting suspicious files from “Shared with me”, then right clicking and selecting “Report”. Or they can drag and drop files to the spam folder on the navigation bar left-hand side. At this stage, they can choose the reason to report violation behavior from selected topics such as “spam or fraud”, “disturbing or inappropriate content”, or “copyright violation”…etc.
In addition, it is possible to block the email account of files’ owners. That means this account won’t be able to interact with users in Google Drive and certain other Google products. However, files in the spam folder will not appear anywhere else in Drive, and they will be permanently deleted after 30 days automatically.
This update can enhance more security in Google Drive. AI will automatically help users to classify content. In case there is some doubtful file, it will filter out to the spam folder. Users are able to control their contents. In the meantime, they can block harmful files by themselves. With Google machine learning, it can minimize worries about spam, phishing from uncertain sources, preventing organizations, employees and assets from cyber attacks.
