Google enabling new function conversation summary in Chat Space, helps people to avoid information overload
Google has been constantly researching AI-powered innovations to help people work more productively and impactful. In the past few years, the company has been creating machine learning tools in Google Workspace for example scheduling meetings, search & suggestion in Chat and Gmail, automated summary in Google Docs which is able to generate an overview of text within a document. Currently, this function is extended and available to Chat Space providing users a helpful digest of conversations.
Nowadays, when we have to deal with multi-tasks, and get across too many groups of Chat or Space. Sometimes, it might be difficult to check and keep up with numerous messages for new conversations in Chat Space that may cause information overload. Google is fully aware of the pain point and tries to solve this issue by developing the latest function; the conversation summary in Chat Space.

From the above picture, we can find an automated summary appearing at the top of the Chats within the Spaces. Machine learning; summaries in Spaces will select and highlight the most important information from chat, then generate useful and concise summary for chat conversation.
In order to read these summaries, we can simply click on the summary of the Space. It allows us to quickly keep up with current situations and easily understand what’s the main idea or what matters from an unread message in Spaces.
Now, we can imagine how useful and practicable this function is in Chats Spaces. It is not only to provide a summary of key messages, but also enables us to stay on top of messages from overflow conversations. Besides, it prevents information overload leading to feelings of anxiety, overwhelmedness and mental fatigue. That will affect our decision-making, productivity and ability to stay motivated as well.
